I have to say, it seems that every month I pick up the newspaper and find the story of a teacher who has sex with her students. They don't seem to be content with home life, they get sick of poor unhappy boys who will be tortured for the rest of their lives because of how badly they were treated (sarcastically, me?)
The latest story comes from the USA, where a teacher from Virginia Maths examines the possibility of spending the next 22 years behind bars after having sex with four of her students.
A number of fees
Erica Mesa, 28, pleaded guilty to two charges of electronic solicitation of a minor and two actions to contribute to the delinquency of a minor.
She pleaded guilty to two counts of connection with two students, but admitted to having sex with two others.
Mesa has been closed since she was arrested in September last year. Her plea of guilt means that some of the charges have been dropped and others have been reduced.
School officials received an anonymous phone call stating that Mesa had sex with a male student. We wonder if she was the girlfriend of one of the defendants or a jealous guy who didn't have sex with her? (God, I get cynical in old age)
Apparently, Mesa had sent nude photos to a 16-year-old student using his cell phone.
It seems that most of the meetings took place at home while her husband was away. Another meeting took place in her car.
One of the most shocking parts of the story is that she admitted to having sex with a boy, while another young man was down in the basement, waiting his turn. She said this made her feel "attractive and wanted".
Defense attorney Mark Gardner said Mesa was not a pedophile and "did not upset people who had no interest in participating."
He demanded her release on bail, but was refused.
Judge Willis said she would have to clean up the mess she had created. It is suspected that her marriage could have problems as a teenager.
The real problem
OK, I had a little giggle about this story. And yes, I still wonder why no teacher wanted to join me when I was a child. However, I do see the problem with painting girls having sex with their teachers as victims, while boys who do this are considered lucky. This seems like a case of treating women as a weaker sex, which could be seen as a bit sexist. In fact, it is.
Let's face it; children do not discover sex on the sixteenth birthday or whatever the age of consent. There is a very good chance that these victims will be sexually active anyway. I will go so far as to say that they say how ordinary they feel when they have been upset by their parents and, as a result, they are offended.
However, the problem is that children (or young adults) do not understand the difference between sex and emotion. There is a very good chance that anyone around the age of 16 will be seriously hurt when they realize that the teacher is using them for sex and as an ego impulse. They are not able to compartmentalize as well as the elderly.
This is why people with authority should not do these things. What could be considered a "victimless murder" can actually be more destructive than you might think when you see a picture of a hot teacher who had it with a student.
But still, what happened to me? I was a nice guy ..... I need a drink!
