FEMINISM AND THE SEX INDUSTRY

FEMINISM AND THE SEX INDUSTRY

When most people think of modern feminism, the last thing they would ever associate it with is the sex industry.  They are almost polar opposites, at least on the surface.  The latter is accused of embodying all the patriarchal difficulties and inconveniences against which he opposes.  But, as with all these movements, there is a dissenting opinion about the sex industry and, in particular, about escorts.

OK, first let's think about what a feminist is.  For most boys, the idea that a feminist is quite limited to cut-looking, bald-cut lesbians.  Any interpretation of them is usually based on the precept that they are anti-men, largely because no man in his right mind would go anywhere near them.  In some cases, this is certainly true, but it is only accidental.  We live in the age of women's rights and that is how we should be.  Every day we hear something about women's equality - at work, on set and at home.

But for the sake of ease, we will recognize modern feminism as the belief that women deserve equal rights and opportunities over men.  And here there is a large part of the distortion of opinion.  For a lot of women, what the sex industry represents is a prison, where the cells are dark and dirty motel rooms, and the man is the jailer.  This is partly based on the perception that industry is a male-centric sphere.  It is true that most porn actors are women, but this is an effect of higher demand, not because men have enslaved an army of naive girls.  To ignore this would be to overlook the large number of male escorts and porn stars, simply because they do not fit into this narrow narrative.

So, in essence, at least for us, this side of the feminist vision is based on a misunderstanding of causality in the industry.  Too often it is seen as a fundamentally exploitative and degrading environment, in which a higher percentage of women rely on gender inequality.  The woman is a slave to the man's whim, and the effect (or consequence) of this imbalance must be subjected to industry.

A lack of choice - bucharest escorts

The claim is that this side of feminism does exactly women's rights against what it fights;  it slowly erodes and damages the essential idea of equality, which implies that a woman cannot make a choice.  They victimize and criminalize women and their behavior.  They deny the impact of choice, liberal attitudes and the belief that a woman has the right to do what she wants with her body, without fear of social prejudice or retaliation.

And that's where the other side of feminists belongs;  the group that does not consider itself to be feminist and works in the sex industry as mutually exclusive.  Male power should not always be sexualized, nor should women's choice to be part of an industry.

The sex industry does not defeat the idea of equality in feminism, but empowers it.  The more activist groups try to criminalize sex, the more they strip women of their voice and their rights.  At the end of the day, their choices will always be the same.
